In North America, we conduct independent Health and Safety audits on all construction sites twice a year and set continuous improvement targets. Training remains a key theme and this has contributed to the improvement in Health and Safety performance throughout the year.
We issue hazardous condition reports wherever we observe unsafe practices being carried out by our subcontractors. Details of any enforcements actions or hazardous conditions notices are reported to the North America Executive Committee each month. Enforcement actions reported during 2006 came from our business in Toronto, Canada and relate to non-compliance with Canadian Health & Safety regulations as identified by on-site inspectors, such as the failure to wear appropriate protective equipment, visibility of hazard signage, etc and are immediately rectified with minimal disruption to the build programme. Across North America, we continually work with our subcontractors to improve their awareness and compliance with Health & Safety regulations and our record of incidents is low.
