Exemplar Projects and Best Practice

Through Taylor Woodrow’s extensive experience of developing ‘best practice’ in all areas of the house building industry we can add value at every stage of the development process. This ability is particularly important in the current planning climate where housebuilders are being called upon by government policy at all levels to deliver sustainable development.

We have chosen to demonstrate six exemplar developments that Taylor Woodrow has played an instrumental role in delivering. Amongst these are two of the seven Millennium Communities launched by English Partnerships and DCLG to ‘provide a range of high quality and innovative homes to facilitate an environmentally friendly lifestyle’.

Sustainability in all forms is at the top of Taylor Woodrow’s agenda:

Community Consultation:
Engaging the local community to get their thoughts and feed back on our proposals. Often our plans are informed by local knowledge that can only be gained from meeting face to face with the local community. Taylor Woodrow’s model of Community Consultation has been formally adopted by DCLG as the best practice model.

Modern Methods of Construction:
Through continuing refinement of our product informed by in depth research and development programme, Taylor Woodrow remains at the forefront of product design meeting the governments Ecohomes requirements and looking forward to the Code for Sustainable Homes.

Design and Master Planning:
The holistic approach we take to all of our developments maximises integration with the surrounding environment and capitalises on benefits delivered by the new development to the new and existing residents.

Affordable Housing:
Affordable Housing is now a critical element of any development, achieving the correct balance of housing is critical to the success of a community. Affordable Housing comes in numerous different forms and can be delivered in different ways. Taylor Woodrow benefits from a dedicated team who deal with Local Authourities, RSLs, Housing Associations and the Housing Corporation in all negotiations related to Affordable Housing. Project Management and Delivery:
Taylor Woodrows inhouse technical knowledge base and experience gives us an edge over our competitors in devilering development schemes. Our project managers work with all team members to ensure a cohesive development is designed and delivered to the best possible standard. Taylor Woodrows finacial strength allows infrastructure and services to be front-loaded in the development process.

Partnering:
Taylor Woodrow has a great deal of partnering experience, on a day to day basis we work with landowners, developers, Local Authorities, Development Agencies English Partnerships and other government bodies to bring forward development schemes. The company has played a large part in English Partnerships' Millennium Communities initiative having been selected as developer partner on two of the seven sites.
